Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Georgia Tech has named Lien Diaz to the 2020 Faces of Inclusive Excellence class.

As Director of Educational Innovation and Leadership at the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing, Diaz works to change perspectives of computer science education and increase transparency on educational issues that must be addressed to obtain equity in school systems across the country. Her work primarily focuses on marginalized communities and students in grades K through 12.

Diaz also works to advance social justice issues through the Constellations podcast, VOICES for Social Justice. As the host, Diaz engages with fellow experts to shed light on social justice issues facing American society.

“I am honored to receive this recognition as my work continues to focus on building a culture and community that is founded on principles of equity and justice. I believe we must support champions of inclusivity to achieve a more just society for everyone regardless of race, gender, and ability,” said Diaz.

Since 2008, Faces of Inclusive Excellence has recognized a diverse group of faculty, students, and staff who are committed to advancing a culture of excellence at Georgia Tech and who have distinguished themselves in their service, research, and teaching.

“All honorees featured in Faces of Inclusive Excellence share one thing in common: They epitomize excellence in their research, teaching, leadership, and service,” said Archie W. Ervin, vice president of Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Honorees were recognized in September at Georgia Tech’s Diversity Symposium.
