History of the Center

Founded on December 11, 2017, the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech was created to serve as a hub and national leader for research and advocacy at the intersection of educational equity and computing.

Housed in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, Constellations investigates, radically challenges and improves the ecosystem that impacts students of color and other students who have been underserved, in their pursuit of education, identity and careers in computing.

In Fall 2018, Constellations began work in the classroom. Under the guidance and hard work of the center's first-ever fellows, PK, Terry, and Shana, nearly 200 students received access to computer science education in five Atlanta Public Schools (APS).
