Computing in the Community
An interactive dashboard for K-12 computing education resources in Metro Atlanta by Constellations Center for Education in Computing at Georgia Tech.
Data: 2024 Academic Year
Latest Dashboard Update: December 4, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to the Metro Atlanta K–12 Computing Education Resource Map – an interactive platform designed to help K–12 students, families, educators, and community organizations discover computing education programs in their neighborhoods. Whether you're looking for inside-school computer science courses, after-school coding clubs, weekend workshops, summer camps, or university outreach programs, this platform brings together a growing network of opportunities to support youth in developing valuable tech skills. With integrated census demographic layers, the dashboard also supports research and analysis focused on equity and access in K–12 computing education.

What’s the coverage of this dashboard?
This dashboard currently focuses on the Metro Atlanta area, with inside-school resources from 8 major school districts: Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Decatur City Schools, Cobb County Schools, Marietta City Schools, Clayton County Schools, and Gwinnett County Schools. We plan to expand the coverage to additional districts (entire Georgia) and include the outside school resources in future updates.
What can I do with this dashboard?
If you’re a student or parent looking for computing education resources or school information:
- “I’m moving to a new neighborhood in Marietta. Which schools near that location offer computer science courses?”
- “I’m about to go Clarkston High School after the summer. Does my high school (or my child’s school) have any certified CS teachers?”
- “Which middle schools in my district offer the most computing courses?”
- “I want to get prepared for college. Are there any schools in my area with AP Computer Science or other college-level CS courses?”
- ……
Or, if you’re a researcher or educator looking to explore the maps on your own:
- Any of the previous questions, and …
- “Can we identify any clear disparities or geographic/demographic patterns in computing education access across different neighborhoods or demographic groups (e.g., by income level or racial composition)?”
- “Do schools in higher-income or predominantly white neighborhoods offer more computing resources?”
- “Which schools have the highest percentage of students enrolled in computer science courses?”
- “How are certified CS teachers distributed across areas—for example, which schools or districts have a lot of certified teachers compared to those with none?”
- ……
How to use this dashboard?
