The College of Computing is sending more than 100 students to the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3. Many are attending the annual conference for the first time. Constellations Director of Educational Innovation and Leadership Lien Diaz will participate on the panel Seeing Beyond Yourself: Effective Allyship, Advocacy, and Activism for Women in Computing.

On pages 40-41 of Hello World Magazine, Constellations Fellow Yolanda Payne shares highlights from our Constellations Virtual Computer Science Professional Development Summit and explains what equity has to do with computing.

Tapia brings together students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities. Attendees have the opportunity to celebrate the diversity that exists in computing and connect with others with common backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, and gender in an effort to create communities that extend beyond the conference. This year, Georgia Tech's College of Computing is able to send 94 percent more students.

With Covid-19 forcing most learning to occur online this academic year, Constellations is pivoting to ensure that students and teachers are still supported through online coaching sessions and workshops, while placing more emphasis on conducting research on the program’s success so far.

Yolanda Payne, a fellow at the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech, has been selected as a 2020-21 CS for All Teachers Community Ambassador.
